The Affordable Housing Element examines the issues of provision of safe, sanitary, affordable housing
for the residents of the Region. Affordable housing are those units for which monthly rents or mortgage payments including
taxes, insurance, and utilities do not exceed 30 percent of that amount which represents the percentage of median adjusted
gross annual income for households. The Strategic Issues identified in the Apalachee Region are:
- Housing affordability
- Quality of housing
- Planning for populations with special needs
- Coordination of land use practices and regulations and affordable housing programs
