Regional Transportation

The purpose of the transportation system is to move people, objects, and/or information between specific points. The transportation system is one of the most important influences on the distribution of land uses, population and activities and is essential to a vital economy. An adequate system consists of many different modes, including mass transit, individual travel and computerized information exchange. The identified Strategic Issue Areas are:

  • Traffic congestion on regional roadways
  • Lack of travel choices
  • Traffic facilities for commerce
  • Providing services to the transportation disadvantaged
  • Inadequate airfield capacity to accommodate projected growth and increased demand
