The purpose of the transportation system is to move people, objects,
and/or information between specific points. The transportation system is one of the most important influences on the distribution
of land uses, population and activities and is essential to a vital economy. An adequate system consists of many different
modes, including mass transit, individual travel and computerized information exchange. The identified Strategic Issue Areas
are:
- Traffic congestion on regional roadways
- Lack of travel choices
- Traffic facilities for commerce
- Providing services to the transportation disadvantaged
- Inadequate airfield capacity to accommodate projected growth and increased
demand
